An idea for a visually cute – yet dark and twisted – comic had been rolling around in my head for a few years. What emerged was an optimistic bunny, named Buni, with terrible luck.
With very few words, my comics rely on images to tell the story, which is often, twisted, sad and funny all at the same time. It’s perfect for Instagram and @bunicomic has more than 170K followers.
Always positive, Buni doesn’t understand that the cute world he lives in is usually out to get him. The girl he loves, loves someone else. And his best intentions never seem to work. Yet he wakes up each day hopeful.
Together with his cynical dad, Buni inhabits a surreal world populated by teddy bears, cupcakes, and unicorns.
Buni was named best online comic by the National Cartoonists Society in 2013 and in June I published my first book, “Buni: Happiness Is a State of Mind.” I’m also a featured artist for Webtoon with nearly 200 Hapi Buni comics.
